Academically
able
student
athletes.
This
program
is
designed
to:
-
Prepare
talented
student
athletes
with
a
solid
academic
foundation
for
entrance
into
Private
Secondary
schools;
-
Provide
academic
counseling
about
their
intended
schools
of
application
and
attendance;
-
Provide
counseling
about
the
College
Admissions
Process;
-
Provide
additional
athletic
training
to
improve
their
competitiveness;
Program
Design:
Students
must
commit
to
14
months
of
intensive
academic
and
athletic
training.
Students
will
attend
the
summer
academy
beginning
in
July
after
completion
of
their
7th
grade
year
for
6
weeks.
Each
day
will
consist
of
a
morning
of
academic
classes
in
English,
Math
and
Computers.
Each
afternoon
will
consist
of
a
two-three
hour
workout
with
EBA
coaches.
The
program
will
continue
in
the
fall
two
Saturdays
each
month
for
the
entire
8th
grade
school
year.
Re-testing
of
the
SSAT
will
occur
that
fall
and
applications
completed
for
private
high
school
admissions.
The
program
will
end
with
another
6
week
summer
session
to
further
bolster
both
the
academic
and
athletic
skills
of
the
student
participants
Program
Materials:
Two
textbooks
in
each
subject:
Pre-
Algebra
and
Algebra
I,
English
Grammar
and
Vocabulary
for
8th
grade
and
9th
grade.
Venue:
A
local
independent
school
in
the
greater
Washington
Area.
Parents/Guardians
will
be
responsible
for
making
sure
that
students
maintain
excellent
attendance
records,
complete
assignments
at
home
and
arrive
on
time
for
all
class
days.
Personnel:
Director
–
prepare
materials,
supervise
staff,
program
design,
provide
ultimate
evaluation
and
assessment
of
student
progress
or
successful
completion
of
the
program;
Counselor–
Provide
guidan
ce
in
application
completion
for
the
independent
schools;
Math/English/Computer
Instructors
–
Deliver
8th
and
9th
grade
curriculum
of
study
to
students
to
enable
their
success
int
eh
current
school
year
and
the
subsequent
9th
grade
year
upon
successful
completion
of
the
program;
EBA
coaches
–
provide
workouts,
athletic
training.
