"Kelly
Denit, a 1996 Paint Branch graduate, played with the Educators
for three seasons. "Mr. Edwards taught me a lot about self-discipline
in both school and on the court," said Denit who will play shooting
guard for Yale University in the fall."
At
Yale:
Denit
was
second
on
the
team
in
assists
(40)
and
fourth
in
minutes
played
(479),
while
averaging
3.3
points
per
game
and
1.7
rebounds.
Against
Harvard,
she
notched
a
season-high
seven
points
with
three
assists
and
two
rebounds.
As
a
freshman,
Denit
was
named
to
the
Ivy
League
All-Rookie
team.
She
scored
a
career-high
23
points
against
Howard
in
the
St.
Peter's
College
Tournament
and
scored
in
double-figures
on
five
occasions.
Her
season
highlight
came
against
Brown
when
she
scored
10
points
in
the
final
1:20
to
lead
the
Bulldogs
to
a
come
from
behind
win,
including
the
game-winning
three-pointer
with
2.9
seconds
left.
For
her
efforts,
she
earned
Ivy
League
Rookie
of
the
Week
honors.
She
scored
12
points
and
a
career-high
nine
rebounds
against
Pennsylvania.
She
was
third
in
scoring,
second
in
assists
and
fourth
in
rebounds.
At
Paint
Branch:
The
two-year
captain
led
her
team
to
the
regional
finals
her
senior
year
and
was
a
member
of
the
all-league
and
all-county
teams.
She
was
also
all-county
in
softball
and
soccer.

Kelly
is
the
daughter
of
Jeff
and
Carol
Denit
and
was
born
on
Sept.
24,
1978.
She
has
one
brother,
Jay.
He
resides
in
Davenport
College
and
is
majoring
in
biology.
