Coach
Falls
hopes
to
improve
the
quality
of
Basketball
in
upper
Montgomery
County
through
his
efforts
at
EBA.
Nearly
all
his
players
are
from
upper
Montgomery
County.
He
realizes
that
being
competitive
nationally
in
the
AAU
and
YBOA
is
very
difficult
with
players
only
from
such
a
small
area.
Coach
Falls
coaches
the
EBA
1984
girls
team.
Since
the
team
was
formed
three
years
ago,
they
have
won
several
leagues
and
tournaments.
They
have
made
the
medal
round
of
the
regional
AAU
and
have
qualified
to
represent
the
State
of
Maryland
at
the
Youth
Basketball
of
America
National
Championships.
Each
player
on
the
team
has
successfully
made
their
high
school
teams
and
have
become
valuable
contributors
to
their
schools.
The
team
has
a
growing
reputation
and
is
looking
forward
to
a
big
year
in
2000.
Coach
Tony
Falls
has
over
25
years
experience
coaching
sports
at
various
levels.
Falls
played
high
school
football
and
basketball
in
Northumberland
County,
Virginia
then
continued
his
academic
and
athletic
development
at
Hampton
University
where
he
majored
in
Physical
Education.
While
a
student
at
Hampton,
Falls
started
coaching
youth
football.
After
college,
Falls
was
player/coach
for
a
very
successful
and
highly
competitive
football
and
basketball
teams
in
the
U.S.
Army.
After
the
Army,
Falls
played
basketball
in
a
semi-professional
industrial
league
and
played
1st
base
for
a
professional
softball
club
team.
History:
Over
the
years,
Coach
Falls
has
coached
youth
in
baseball,
basketball
and
football.
He
started
the
boys
program
for
the
Educators
Basketball
Association
(EBA).
His
boys'
team,
which
he
has
coached
for
5
years,
has
been
very
successful,
winning
many
AAU
tournaments
and
establishing
a
national
reputation.
The
15
and
under
team
was
ranked
in
the
top
ten
in
the
nation.
On
this
team,
over
half
the
players
had
grade
point
averages
of
3.5
or
better.
Over
half
of
the
top
players
in
Upper
Montgomery
County
have
played
for
Coach
Falls.
Some
of
his
players
have
made
all
county
(and
player
of
the
year
and
received
D-1
scholarships).
Three
of
his
players
are
starters
at
Magruder
High
School
who
were
the
1999
and
2000
County
champs
finishing
20
-
3
in
1999
and
22
-
2
in
2000.
Four
of
his
players
were
starters
at
Quince
Orchard
High
school
and
played
in
the
2000
state
title
game.
Two
other
players
played
for
Paint
Branch
High
School
who
won
the
state
3A
title.
One
of
Coach
Falls'
players
was
recently
named
the
number
1
high
school
junior
in
the
nation.
