Tiffany
Green
begins
her
first
season
as
head
girl's
basketball
coach
at
The
Newport
School
after
serving
the
last
two
years
as
assistant
coach
on
the
collegiate
level.
Last
year,
Green
was
the
assistant
coach
and
recruiting
coordinator
for
Coppin
State
College
in
Baltimore,
MD.
The
year
before,
she
was
the
assistant
coach
for
Florida
Southern
College
in
Lakeland,
FL.
While
at
Florida
Southern,
she
helped
guide
the
Lady
Moccasins
to
a
24-5
record
and
the
Sunshine
State
Conference
regular-season
and
tournament
titles.
Florida
Southern
finished
as
the
top-ranked
team
in
the
South
Region
in
the
Final
NCAA
Division
II
poll.
At
Coppin
State,
she
assisted
the
Lady
Eagles
to
a
13-14
finish
and
a
ranking
of
fourth
in
the
Mid-Eastern
Athletic
Conference.
Green
had
the
privilege
of
working
with
two
head
coaches
who
were
named
"Coach
of
the
Year"
for
their
respective
conferences.
The
Woodbridge,
VA
native
graduated
cum
laude
from
Virginia
State
University
with
a
B.S.
in
Accounting
in
1993.
A
four-year
starter
at
point
guard
and
shooting
guard
position
for
VSU,
she
averaged
7.6
points,
3.0
assists,
and
2.5
steals
in
her
career
and
was
named
as
the
Trojanettes'
top
defensive
player
from
1990-92.
As
a
freshman,
she
guided
her
team
to
the
Central
Intercollegiate
Athletic
Association
(CIAA)
championship.
Green
excelled
off
the
court
as
well,
earning
GTE/College
Sports
Information
Directors
of
America,
Academic
All-American
honors
in
1993.
In
addition,
she
was
named
the
VSU
student-athlete
of
the
year
three
times
and
CIAA
Student-Athlete
of
the
Year
in
1992.
Green
will
be
teaching
computer
applications
to
middle
school
students
while
at
Newport.
