Encouragement Cards Project
At the Elementary Basketball League (EBL), we believe leadership is formed through service, compassion, and global awareness—not just competition. This season, all EBL players and cheerleaders are invited to write encouragement cards to children their age experiencing extreme poverty and homelessness around the world.

✅ How to Participate (Clear Steps)
  1. Request your card quantity for your campus/team by emailing [email protected].
  2. Write the cards using the Writing Guides below (simple, safe, and encouraging).
  3. Place completed cards in an envelope.
  4. Clearly write your elementary school name on the front of the envelope.
  5. Drop the envelope off at your HOST CAMPUS on March 21.
⚠️ IMPORTANT: All encouragement cards must be placed in an envelope labeled with your elementary school name and dropped off at your host campus on March 21.

🧡 Parent & Coach Encouragement Card Guide
Purpose: Help your child write a short, kind message to another child their age who may be going through a hard time. Keep it positive, simple, and hopeful.
Simple Formula
  1. Start kind: “Hi friend!”
  2. Encourage: “You matter.”
  3. Share hope: “You are not alone.”
  4. Close simply: “From your friend,”
Helpful Prompts
  • What would you say to someone having a tough day?
  • What words would help you feel brave?
  • What kind words would you want to hear?

🏀 Coach Huddle Script (2–3 Minutes)
Read this to your team:
“Team, today we’re writing encouragement cards to kids our age around the world who may be having a hard time. Your words matter. Write something kind, hopeful, and encouraging—something you’d want someone to say to you. Remember, Ubuntu Matters: I am because we are.”
  • Students write 3–5 positive sentences
  • Keep it encouraging and age-appropriate
  • First name only (optional)
